Steph Curry makes surprise visit to Oakland school to tout foundation work

Basketball star Steph Curry and his wife, Ayesha, unveiled a new playground at an Oakland school Wednesday as part of their ongoing commitment to use their Eat Learn Play Foundation to continue to help children, the East Bay Times reported.

The Currys have raised $47 million to serve Oakland kids and families, delivered 25 million meals and donated $6 million to literacy programs and resources, according to the foundation.

Wednesday, the couple made a surprise visit to the Lockwood STEAM Academy where they unveiled a new schoolyard, including two new, kid-designed playgrounds, two multisport courts, two mini soccer pitches, an outdoor classroom, enhanced community gardens and a mural that spans the yard.

In a statement, foundation officials said they were also upgrading the school’s kitchen and cafeteria, funding access to summer and weekend sports and literacy tutoring, and adding books to library shelves.
