An 8th grader knows a lot about Millard Fillmore, no, really, he does

An 8th grader in Bloomington Indiana has won a first ever national presidential history video contest – called Project POTUS for his delightful short film on the 13th U.S. president, Millard Fillmore.

Yes, Millard Fillmore, who, when serving a vice president in 1850, became president upon the death of Zachery Taylor and failed to win the presidency on his own in the election of 1854. The winning video, by Oscar McDermott-Snipe, was announced Thursday.

Project POTUS is sponsored by the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site and is open to middle schoolers in an effort to spur interest in presidential history, according to the site. In all, 38 prizes were awarded to more than 50 students from eight states.

Other short films focused on presidents Ford, Andrew Johnson, Harrison and Eisenhower, according to Project-POTUS.
