New California program boosting state’s re-enrollment rates

California Reconnect, a program to re-enroll adults who haven’t completed college degrees, has boosted re-enrollment rates four times higher than the national average, according to Inside Higher Education.

Of the 5,700 former college students contacted by program staff, about 480, or 8.4%, re-enrolled. The national re-enrollment rate was 2.1% in 2021-22, according to the news article.

The collaboration between InsideTrack, an academic coaching company; the Institute of Higher Education; and Project Attain, an effort by seven Sacramento-area colleges and universities to increase the number of people who can attain a college education, began this spring. The goal is to re-enroll 4 million state residents who have some credits from two- or four-year colleges but no degree.
