As a result of Executive Order N-34-20 issued by Gov. Newsom on March 20 to combat the coronavirus, the time California has to count the vote was extended 21 days, to April 24. As of March 31, only 93,982 votes remained to be counted.
As a result these results are virtually final. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, with 35.8 percent of the vote, led former Vice President Joe Biden, in second place with 27.9 percent/ Proposition 13, the $15 billion state school and community college construction bond measure, was defeated, with 46.9 percent yes votes, and 53.1 percent no votes.
