UCLA students and faculty decry antisemitism and anti-Palestinian hate

Two task forces commissioned by UCLA have found both an increase in antisemitism and an increase in anti-Palestinian harassment.

As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the UCLA Task Force to Combat Antisemitism and Anti-Israeli Bias released a report this week finding antisemitism has gotten worse since Oct. 7, 2023, when the current war in Gaza started, including reports from more than 100 Jews or Israeli Americans at UCLA who say they were attacked or threatened in the last year for their identity.

At the same time, the UCLA Task Force on Anti-Palestinian, Anti-Muslim, and Anti-Arab Racism has reported “increased harassment, violence and targeting” of Palestinians, Muslims and Arabs on campus.

Both tasks forces were commissioned last fall and winter in response to complaints over hate incidents and protests.
