San Marcos Unified principal placed on leave

A principal at a San Marcos Unified school was placed on leave last Friday after district officials received a complaint about him the day before, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune. The Mission Hills High School community has yet to be told the reason behind his leave of absence, which was announced to families Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the district told The San Diego Union-Tribune that Principal Cliff Mitchell was placed on leave while the district reviews the matter. Mitchel has worked at Mission Hills High School since 2020, following more than a decade as principal at a Poway Unified school. Assistant Principal Nathan Baker is currently taking over his responsibilities.
