Proud Boys member running for Sacramento-area school board confronts another candidate

A Proud Boys-affiliated candidate for the school board in San Juan Unified confronted another candidate during a voter outreach event in a local park on Saturday, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Jeffrey Perrine, a member of the far-right group Proud Boys, recently filed papers to run for the school board. This weekend he attended a meet-and-greet for school board candidate Ben Avey. The pair are not running against each other.

Avey wrote on Twitter, “He confronted me, angry that I have called the Proud Boys a hate group and tried to liken them to other groups. I clarified that I believe Proud Boys are the modern-day Klan.”

A video of the pair facing off circulated on social media. It shows one of Perrine’s friends pulling him back. Perrine also posted a video of the interaction on his YouTube account.
