Marin requires students and school staff to take Covid tests over holiday break

The Marin County Public Health Department and the County Office of Education distributed more than 96,000 Covid rapid tests to all public school students and employees before they left for the holiday break, according to KTVU.

Students and staff will be required to take the at-home tests a day before returning to campus in January and record the results on an online reporting system. Each student and employee received two tests.

“It’s a simple strategy — test everyone before they come back to school, to help ensure no one who’s infected comes onto campus on day one,” said Dr. Matt Willis, Marin County’s public health officer, according to KTVU. “We’ve been working with schools to promote home testing for months, so this should be familiar to most families.”
