Fresno County district cuts some bus stops, frustrating parents

Sanger Unified, a school district in Fresno County, cut multiple bus stops this year without giving much notice to parents, The Fresno Bee reported.

Many of those parents are field workers who told the Bee that they’ve had to choose between working or driving their kids to school. “You’re forcing parents to choose to go work or to send the kids to school,” Olga Loza, a community organizer for the Dolores Huerta Foundation, told the Bee.

District officials told the Bee that all of the bus stops that were eliminated were “courtesy” stops that the district wasn’t legally obligated to provide.
