With more than 1,000 schools serving some 600,000 students, Los Angeles Unified is California’s largest school district by far, and the second largest district in the nation.

“The push is on to protect schools from privatization as well as to create safe spaces for immigrants, women and minorities,” said California Teachers Association President Eric Heins.
The new magnet school provides students a hands-on learning experience.
