Julie Patel Liss

Julie Patel Liss, an assistant professor at California State University – Los Angeles, is a freelancer for EdSource. She has worked as an investigative reporter at news outlets, such as the Center for Public Integrity and WAMU public radio. She started her career at the San Jose Mercury News and the South Florida Sun Sentinel – covering education, regulated utilities and other issues. Her work has earned more than a dozen awards and honors, including a national Emmy Award. Julie was born in India and raised in Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree from Stanford University.
