Private Central Valley school fined for in-person instruction

A private K-12 Christian school in Reedley, near Fresno, was fined $15,000 for violating a judge’s order to stop in-person instruction, according to the Associated Press. It may be the first fine in California against a school for violating public health orders to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Immanuel Schools opened for in-person instruction on Aug. 13, and when health officials ordered it to close, the school challenged the order in court, eventually reaching a settlement by agreeing to institute health and safety precautions.
