For the past 38 years, EdSource has held an annual education policy event that has focused on major challenges facing public education in California. You can follow this year’s symposium, “Serving California’s High Needs Students: New Strategies for Student Success,” on our live blog on April 30. Educators, advocates and policy experts will discuss how to improve education outcomes for “high needs” students – low-income children, English learners and foster youth.

Check-in here for live updates straight from the Sacramento Convention Center; our reporters will be tweeting the sessions, from 9 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Share your own thoughts with us on Twitter and Facebook.

Presenters at the event include New York University Professor of Education Pedro Noguera; Director of Educational Equity at Advancement Project Kim Pattillo Brownson; President of the California State Board of Education Michael Kirst; California’s Legislative Analyst Mac Taylor; California Commission on Teacher Credentialing chair Linda Darling-Hammond, along with leading educators from around the state.
