CSU Admission Rates by Ethnicity: A Comparison
During the entire 1997-98 and 2005-06 college years, the
overall admission rates in the California State University (CSU)
system increased. Although CSU had to abide by Proposition
209’s provisions, a comparison of 1997 and 2005 admission
rates shows that the rates either increased or stayed essentially
the same for all ethnicities. Underrepresented ethnicities (African
American, Latino/Chicano, and Native American) gained the
most from overall increased admission rates.
